CPL US ARMY WORLD WAR II
A.B. Thompson, longtime resident of Jacksonville and Callahan was called up to heaven Wednesday October 11, 2017 in Harpersville, AL. He served his country in the US Army as a corporal during WWII serving from 1942-1945.
Years later he went to work for Seaboard Rail Road for nearly 20 years. He was a successful businessman and entrepreneur. Some of his business ventures were Riverview Fuel Oil, AB&B Motors, Callahan Body Shop and AB&B Auto parts. He always had the help and support of his loving wife Myrtice. He was a longtime active member of Norwood, Bethel Temple and Evangel Temple Assembly of God in Jacksonville. He loved planting his vegetable garden every year, growing and tending his plants and flowers and planting trees. He also loved spending time and joking with family, friends and his loving wife. He loved having visitors, everyone was always welcome at his house. And he never met a stranger. He was a great Christian man that loved his Lord. He always set a good example of his beliefs and hard working ethics for his family to follow.
We take great comfort in knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior and reunited with his loving wife of 74 years. Today they are praising Jesus together and dancing on THE STREETS OF GOLD.
He is survived by his daughter; Julie Thompson (Bob) Higgins, son; Barney (Debby) Thompson, brother; Talmage (T.R.) Thompson, 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife; Myrtice Thompson, parents; Rondeau and Myrtis Thompson, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
