Brenda E. Skinner, 77, of Brownwood received her Heavenly crown on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017. A service of celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Greater Faith Community Church, located at 417 Wesley Ave., with Bishop A.C. Blake as the Eulogist. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Brenda was born March 18, 1940 in Brownwood to Jim Bagley and Lillie Bagley “Lawton.” Brenda attended Brownwood High School graduating in 1959. She also received a license in Cosmetology at the Madam C.J. Walker Institute in Austin. She worked for Hughes Aircraft in Los Angeles, California for many years, and she retired from Superior Cable in Brownwood.

Brenda loved arts and crafts. Coming from a long line of legendary cooks, Brenda could also throw down in the kitchen where she passed on her great skills. She also loved serving her church, Greater Faith Community, where she worked in the youth department and served in the hospitality department. Brenda never knew a stranger and she enjoyed meeting people learning everything about them, and making sure she could do everything in her power to help them. She was a true giver, and just loved life!

Left to cherish her memories are sons, Stephen Atkins (Marlene) of Brownwood, and Carey Reese of Brownwood; sisters, Mary Helen Reed (Jim) of Wichita Falls, Michelle McDowell of Brownwood, Aleta Lowe (Charles) of Brownwood; brothers, James Bagley (Janet) of Brownwood, and Michael Lawton (Mary) of Austin; granddaughter who she called her daughter, Amber Duffie Slaughter; grandchildren who she adored, Lavan Reese, Courtney Reese, Tanisha Duffie, Mitch Richards, Brittney Reese, Demitrus Reese, Reco Cadena, Sabrina Cadena, and Cierra Reese, Orlando Atkins; and a host great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Lawton; father, Jim Bagley; son, Gregory Reese; sister, Malinda J. Wright; grandmother, Mary Carter; Precious, Lady Love, and Honey.
