The funeral for Jean McKiver, 85, was held in Groton at the Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Gerald Rife officiated.

Burial was in the Groton Union Cemetery with Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel of Groton in charge of arrangements.

A prayer service was held at the funeral chapel.

She died Thursday, Sept. 28, 1995 at the Colonial Manor in Groton.

Jean Lucille McKiver was born Oct. 18, 1909 to Angus and Gertrude (Chapin) McKiver at Groton. She grew up in Groton and attended Groton schools, graduating from Groton High School in 1928. She attended Wahpeton (N.D.) College. She was a resident of Groton all of her life and was a librarian at the Groton Public Library for eight years. She also baby-sat for many children over the years. She became a resident of the Colonial Manor in 1993.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Groton, the Presbyterian Women, and acted as the secretary for the Presbyterian Sunday school for many years. She was a charter member of the Groton Garden Club and was a volunteer at the Colonial Manor.

Survivors include one brother, Walace G. McKiver of Groton; ad three sisters, Mrs. Gordon (Myla) Grams of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Mrs. Dave (Arlene Gibbs) Tiffany of Rapid City, and Mrs. Hoover (Janice) Holland of Colorado Springs, Colo.; several nieces and nephews, Mrs. Ruben (Diane) Paul and Mrs. Richard (Judy) Fliehs both of Groton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.

Casketbearers were Scott Larson, Jeremy Paul, Tim Fliehs, Lynn Fliehs, Karl McKiver and Lee Schinkel. Ushers were Richard Anderson and Wayne Quiggle.

The organist was Iyone Anderson. The soloist was the Rev. Bill Duncan.
