James Folsom Tullis, an insurance agent who served 12 years on the City Council, died in his sleep Saturday. He would have been 76 on November 3. Jim is survived by his wife Kay Tullis, son James Tullis Jr. and his daughter Kimberly Tullis, along with three grandchildren, and a brother Gary Tullis, all of Jacksonville.
Jim was born in Hackensack NJ, and moved with his family to the Clifton area when he was three. He spent his entire life living in this beloved neighborhood, and during his time on the City Council, he fought for citizens of Arlington and greater Jacksonville to ensure peoples quality of life. Mr. Tullis was a successful businessman, joining the insurance agency started by his father after his graduation from Jacksonville University. He and is brother worked in the business, and Jim became president of James F. Tullis & Associates.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7PM, Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave. The Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 256 E Church St. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery 4801 San Jose Blvd., and a reception will be held after burial at San Jose Country Club, 7529 San Jose Blvd. All services are open to the public. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207
