Robert was killed during Operation Pheasant, the liberation of 's-Hertogenbosch. He was initially buried at Oss War Cemetery and later reburied at Uden.
Robert was wounded in action on the 17th of July 1944 in Normandy. He is mentioned in despatches twice.
Before enlisting as a Canloan Officer Robert served in the 2nd Battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada which was a reserve unit. He served here from July 1940 until 1942. On July 20th, 1942 he enlisted in Vancouver to become a Canloan Officer.
Robert was married to Margaret Elizabeth Marsh and together they had one daughter, Joan who was 2,5 when he died.
