Louis A. Ellis died peacefully, October 14, 2017. He was 100 years old. Louis was born on May 17, 1917 in Detroit to parents, Emma (nee Steinves) and Frank Ellis.
On February 11, 1938 Louis married the love of his life, Catherine. The two were married for over 65 years and raised a beautiful family together.
Integrity, honorable, supportive, kind, and gentle are just a few words used to describe Louis. He was a man of much wisdom but few words so when he talked, everybody listened. Louis was self-taught and able to fix or build anything- including a boat in the garage. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and hunting but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a family man and crazy about his grandchildren. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Louis was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Louis is survived by his loving children, Patricia (Paul) LeBel, Diana (the late James) Greig, Greg (Kim) Ellis and his cherished grandchildren, Colleen (Greg) Mclatchie, Tim (Tonia) LeBel, Kerry (Gerard) Surmann, Kathleen (Matt) Hayden, Megan (Brad) Pinter, Scott (Jessica) Greig, Heather (David) Sofran, and Adam Sabo. He is also survived by his dear great-grandchildren, Amanda, Brian, Peter, Shaelyn, Brooke, William, Emily, Erin, Chase, Bryce, Connor, Avery, Peyton, Sadie, and Jaxon. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine βPatβ.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson (Between 14 & 15 Mile Roads) on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11am. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, 3-8pm.
