Frankie Watkins passed away on October 11, 2017.
Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Monday, October 16, 2017 at First Baptist Grapevine. Visitation: Sunday from 4-6pm at Lucas Funeral Home Grapevine. Burial: Medlin Cemetery, Trophy Club.
Frankie Jean Jackson was born on July 13, 1949 in Frederick, OK to Cammie Dean & Lovell (Jack) Jackson. When Frankie was 4, they moved to Morton, TX where she graduated high school and headed for nursing school in Fort Worth. After completing nursing school, Frankie worked in Lubbock where she met John Watkins. They were married in 1970 and moved to Dalhart, TX in 1972. Frankie worked for Dr.Frank in Dalhart until Cy Marie was born. Then, in 1987 she opened an upholstery shop on 7th Street in Dalhart and later moved the business across town to Denver Avenue. She had an amazing talent and beautiful work whether it was an auto interior or a piece of furniture. She was a hard worker with a kind heart. In her later years, she changed rolls and went to work at United as a cashier. Eventually, she decided to move to Grapevine to be closer to the grandkids. Frankie surprised many friends and family when she moved to the metroplex, but she became accustomed to her small circle in the big city. She worked as a cashier at Market Street in Colleyville and truly enjoyed her work and her guests. She always wanted to do a great job. She was such a blessing to Cy, Paul, Hayden, and Colton. She was happy being able to tote her grandsons to/from school, karate, baseball and church functions. Once Cammie moved to Grapevine, Frankie would stop in at South Colleyvine Ranch frequently with Sonic Sprite and visit with her mom or take her for the Big Lots walks. She enjoyed attending FBC Grapevine on Sundays with her family. Many will miss Frankie’s brownies, cookies, & cakes, one of the many ways she brightened peoples’ day and warmed their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Frankie is survived by her daughter, Cy Mireles and her husband, Paul; grandsons, Hayden and Colton Mireles; mother, Cammie Jackson; sister, Deana Ware; and many other extended family and friends.
