Andy was born March 22, 1944, to Frank and Irene Hansen in Leadville, and then moved to Buena Vista. He attended Buena Vista schools where he met his high school sweetheart Lois Fischer. They became married June 26, 1987.
He was a well-known fire fighter, rancher and janitor for the Buena Vista school district as well as the Town of Buena Vista.
Even though Andy was very passionate about his careers, it didn’t compare to the joy he brought to his family’s life. He enjoyed nothing more than getting down on the floor and playing with the grandkids and even more so the great-grandkids.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Irene Hansen and his brother Jack Hansen.
Hansen is survived by his wife of 26 years Lois Hansen, daughter Rhonda Hansen (Glenn) of Buena Vista, sons Gary Stevens of Colorado Springs and Virgil Stevens of Hesperus; sister Judy Goggins (Neal) of Conway, S.C., 14 grandkids, four great-grandkids and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Cremation will occur at Andy’s request. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m at Avery-Parsons Elementary School gym; lunch to follow at the American Legion. Memorial contributions can be made at High Country Bank under Lois and Andy Hansen.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home in Salida. Online condolences to the family can made at lewisandglenn.com
