June C. Mitchell, 93, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of South Haven passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at her daughter’s home under Hospice care. June honorably served her country in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 until 1946 when she was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. June married Oran Mitchell and shared 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2008. June loved gardening, writing, photography, and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in South Haven.
June is survived by her children – Victor (Jane) Mitchell of Monterey, California, Laurel (Mike) Jones of Courtland, Alabama, Bonnie Mitchell of San Antonio, Texas, and Pamela (Ernest) Stevens of Dayton, Ohio. Six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great-grandson also survive.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, August 13, at 3:00 PM at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in South Haven with Pastor William Richardson officiating. June will be laid to rest at Big Lake Cemetery in Big Lake, Minnesota next to her husband Oran.
