Homer E. Ludiker
July 27, 1926 - October 11, 2017

WEATHERFORD - Homer E. Ludiker 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, with his daughter at his side.
Homer was born in Fort Worth on July 27, 1926 the middle child to James E. and Katie Ludiker. He attended Riverside High School lettering in various sports such as football, basketball, archery and was the light heavy weight champion in the Golden Gloves.
While growing up he delivered the Fort Worth Star Telegram. He was drafted out of high school and served with the U.S. Marines. While serving, he played football on two different teams in Hawaii and Corpus Christi. After leaving the service he married Helen Jean Schieman, his high school sweetheart and they had their 70th anniversary in May. He attended TCU on a football scholarship and was known as Golden Toe for his ability to kick field goals while playing for Dutch Myer. Upon his graduation he started his career with the Fort Worth Public Schools. Coaching and teaching at North Side High School his baseball team won the state championship and was undefeated for many years they also named a baseball field after him. He moved to Arlington Heights H.S. and was the head coach where his football team won district, and state in golf. He was then promoted to Vice Principal at Arlington Heights and was there additional 15 years. He then advanced to principal at William James Middle, Diamond Hill and worked in an admin position for the school district before retiring.
He was instrumental in starting the North Richland Jaycees, and the Fort Worth Coaching Association indoor track meet, President of the Downtown Optimist Club and Arlington Heights Letterman Club.
He was one of the founding members of the GOB (Good Old Boys) club. It started from 3 people from educators in the Fort Worth school district and has grown to over 140 members meeting for lunch once a month at Angelo's BBQ. He always enjoyed going to the meeting and spending time with friends and making new friends.
Some of his greatest pleasures were golfing and gardening. One year he grew over 2,000 tomatoes. He loved vacationing in Colorado with friends and fishing for trout.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother and grandson, Evan.
Survivors: Daughter, Lee Ann Nave; sons, Lane Ludiker (Anita), Lynn Ludiker (Carol) and Les Ludiker (Cheryl); 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Margie Sasnett; many nieces and nephews; along with many students he called his kids and longtime friends.
