415 Squadron's Handley Page Hampden I (#AT245) aircraft with an aircrew of four which had taken off from RAF North Coates was shot down in the sea off the Frisian Island; all four members of the crew perished in the attack.
The four airmen who were lost were-
RCAF Flight Sergeant Boyd Allison DAKIN,
RCAF Warrant Officer Class II Irving Walter GARFIN,
RCAF Flight Sergeant Douglas PEARCE and
