She married Donald Lewis Peterson on March 1, 1944, in Seattle, Washington. They eventually settled in California and raised four children during their marriage.
Kay was active in their church and taught children's Sunday School and home Bible Clubs.
After their children were grown she returned to university to complete her Master's Degree in Special Education and worked as a Speech Therapist for many years in the public school system.
Kay and Don spent 2 years in the Philippines volunteering in a missionary kid's school in Manilla.
They later retired to Bothell Washington. Don died in 2014 and she died on October 4, 2017, in Bothell, Washington, at the age of 95.
She is survived by her 4 children and their spouses and families.
