Services for Carol Jean Barker, 88, of Tyler will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Chapel with Chaplain Bill Nowell officiating with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. Carol put her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and went to be with Him for eternity on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.Carol Jean Barker was born to William Everett and Mary Edna Henry Ellison on October 1, 1929 in Tyler, Texas. She married Ellis Ray Barker on December 24, 1949 in Kilgore and moved to Tyler in 1953.She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church over 60 years. She participated in many ministries of the church. She and Ellis were part of a mission group that built and repaired churches, making many trips in Texas and surrounding states. In later years she and Ellis traveled to events sponsored by the Navy Veterans of WWII. Carol is survived by children. Mrs. Barker is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ellis Ray Barker.
