SUMMERS – September 2nd, Charles John, aged 86 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Rosa Summers, No. 15 Bow Valley Lodge. Born in Huntley, Gloucestershire, England, he came to Calgary in 1908 and operated a grocery and confectionery store in S.W. Calgary until retiring in 1945. Besides his wife, Mr. Summers is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. William Lumdsen and Mrs. William McLaren, Hanna; Mrs. William Ward, Edmonton and Mrs. George Umsworth, East Coulee; 3 sons, Harold, Vancouver, Wilfred and Kenneth, Calgary; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters in England. Services at “The Little Chapel on the Corner” Friday at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Albert Graham officiating. Jacques Funeral Home. Interment Queen’s Park Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
