Indian Wars Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He received the award on March 12, 1891 for his actions as a 2nd lieutenant with the 10th Cavalry, US Army on May 3, 1886 during the Geronimo Campaign in Sonora, Mexico during the Indian Wars.
