Darlene B. Farr, 85, Hays, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas.

She was born May 25, 1932 in Stockton, Kansas one of four daughters to Earl and Opal (McComb) Buss. A graduate of Stockton High School in 1949, she was united in marriage to Charles D. “Charlie” Farr on August 28, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in Stockton. The celebrated 67 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 3, 2016. She was a homemaker, wife, and mother, an excellent seamstress, cook, and gardener, and she was a steadfast family matriarch, a motivator and caregiver that loved her family and extended family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hays.

Survivors include two daughters; Karol Chaffee and Jerry Wilson of WaKeeney and Cindy Farr of Ogallah, and two grandsons; Brent Chaffee and Neal Chaffee, both of Hays, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie, a son Charles Alan Farr, and three sisters; Twila Carpenter, Doris Cunningham, and Earlyne Ives.

A celebration of Darlene’s life will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine Street, with Pastor Troy Buss officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Allen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, Hays c/o the funeral home.
