Freda May Fowler, 89, lifelong Texhoma resident, passed away Thursday morning, October 12th, 2017 at the Rolling Hills Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.
The daughter of Henry and Nellie Marie (Jorgesen) Fowler, she was born January 11, 1928 on the home place NW of Texhoma, Oklahoma. Freda May attended a country school northwest of Texhoma.
Because of a childhood illness, her formal education was limited. However, through the years she read newspapers and continued to learn. Freda May was a constant caregiver to her mother and upon her mother’s death, the ladies of the First Baptist Church ministered to her and she blossomed into a friendly, loving woman. She accepted the Lord and was baptized in the Texhoma First Baptist Church on October 16, 1983, where she became an active member. She continued to live an active, happy life in the Texhoma community until her declining health forced her to move to the Heritage Community.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include several cousins, her loving church family and close friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, October 16th at 2:00 p.m. at the Texhoma First Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Texhoma Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
There will be a time of viewing on Sunday afternoon, October 15th from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Texhoma First Baptist Church.
