Samuel James Hervey Stark
1829–1863
Son of Samuel Cannon Stark and Rosanna Rutledge.
Some family trees give his birth as Jan. 11 and others Jan. 14.
He married 19 Feb 1850 in Anderson County, S.C., Frances Evelyn Byrd "Fannie" Hall, daughter of Ezekiel Hall and Frances Evelyn Byrd Hall Tucker.
They had three children:
1. Josephine Roseanna "Anna" Stark b: 12 Jan/Jun 1853-1 FEB 1944 m.1 Capt. Wm Bryan or Byron Miller and had 1 son James Stark Miller (res. Canada 1891); m.2 Archibald McMahon, returned to Anderson, S.C.
2. Alice Hervey Stark 2 May 1859-28 DEC 1947 m. 1888 Dr. Darius A.H.W. Covert of Portland & Los Angeles
3. Samuel James Stark b: 2 Feb 1861 married Jane Ann Miller, daughter of Nicholas Miller & Mary (Yarbrough), granddaughter of George Anderson Miller & Sarah (Burt) Miller.

Samuel James Stark purchased the Burt house in which Jefferson Davis met for the last time with his Confederate Cabinet and spent the night but it is not correct that his mother died in the house.

After the death of Samuel J.H. Stark, his widow married Stephen Jones McKee (1830-1895) who was the widow of her sister Julia. After her death, he moved to Weatherford, Texas.

Frances Evelyn Hall Stark McKee was the daughter of Ezekiel Hall and Frances Evelyn Byrd Tucker;
granddaughter of John Hall and Ursula (Griggs) Hall, Bartley Tucker and Hannah (DeJarnat) Tucker;
great-granddaughter of James Tucker and Elizabeth (Jackson) Tucker, Elias DeJarnat (DeJarnette) and Sarah (Hall) DeJarnat.
They were cousins, since Sarah Hall DeJarnat was the sister of John Hall above (Historical Southern Families by John Bennett Boddie, vol. v).
