Joann Nicholson left her worldly body and was greeted on the other side by many family and friends, on Thursday October 12, 2017.

Patricia Joan Pence Nicholson was born February 12, 1930 in Saline, Michigan and eventually planted roots in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

She worked at the Oak Ridger for many years, sang with Sweet Adelines, and was a member of Home Demonstration.

She was a devoted wife, a wonderful friend, and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She always took time for a chat and truly loved Interactions with others.

When she was able, she loved to cook and was beyond exceptional at it.

She never let prejudices or differences diminish her thoughts of others.

She was truly a kind and caring person who tried to live up to the challenge of the Golden Rule, “Treat others as you would like to be treated.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents Joseph H. Pence and Thelma Davis Pence, husband John R. Nicholson, and son Stephen J. Nicholson.

She is survived by daughter, Patty Miller and husband David of Oak Ridge; sister, Janet Davis of Wren, OH; Six grandchildren, Seara Holland and husband Dan, Joanna Tipton and husband Jeff, Evan Nicholson and wife Shelley, Mark Miller and wife Tabatha, Samantha Miller, and Zac Nicholson; Seven great-grandchildren, Caitlin Tipton, Cameron Tipton, Finnegan Holland, Adeline Holland, Elijah Nicholson, Zade Nicholson, and Isaac Miller.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from Noon-l pm at Weatherford Mortuary (158 5. Jefferson Ave.) in Oak Ridge.

The memorial service will begin at 1 pm with Rev. Stella Roberts officiating.

Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church Youth Choir (1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike) of Oak Ridge.
