William Henry Ogden, Jr. ,age 94, of Wichita Falls, formerly of Electra, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in Wichita Falls.

Private services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2017, in Electra Memorial Park with Jon Curry, Pastor of Grace Community Church in Archer City, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

William was born May 19, 19023 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Dr. William Henry Ogden, Sr. and Inga Adelaide Ehrmann Ogden.

He grew up in Electra and graduated from Electra High School.

William honorably served his country in the United States Army where he enlisted on July 23, 1943 and served during World War II in Company D, 114th Medical Battalion, 26th Infantry Division. He earned the American Theater Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Four Bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

After his tour of duty, he graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1947 with a BA and from University of North Texas in 1949 with a MA in Biology.

He began teaching in Commerce and Paris Texas schools where he met Deryl Jean Sparks. They were married on August 3, 1952 in Mount Vernon, Texas. Shortly after, they moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where he taught Chemistry, Biology and Physical Science at Reagan Jr. High, Rider High School and Wichita Falls High School until his retirement.

Farming and cattle ranching were two of his favorite "hobbies" as he called them. He loved FOX News, photography , genealogy, reading, and talking about history for which he had an incredible mind for. He enjoyed talking about the trips he took with his mother by train when he was a little boy. His mother loved telling stories of taking him to the store and having to buy him a jelly roll to keep him in line. He was a Boy Scout and attended the 1933 Chicago's World Fair with his troop. William was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include his wife, Jean of Wichita Falls, daughter, Jane Engbrock and husband, Randy of Wichita Falls, grandson, Dylan Engbrock and Aubrey of Wichita Falls, great-granddaughter, Tatum and several cousins.
