Mr. James Douglas Revels, 73, of Mayo, FL, passed away on October 8, 2017 at Lafayette Health Care in Mayo, FL. James was born in Lafayette County on October 26, 1943 to Mr. Leon Decatur Revels and Mrs. Lessie Lois Keen Revels. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School. Mr. Revels was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he was a faithful and active member. He owned and operated several businesses during his working years, including Revels Sawdust Hauling, 3 services stations including the Bay, Philips 76, and Chevron stations, and he also worked as a truck driver. James was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding quarter horses and taking time to work with children in the community. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister, Laverne Sampsell.

He is survived by; his wife of 14 years, Marilyn Wimberley Revels; 4 sons, Dean Revels, of Mayo, Travis Revels, and wife Joette, of Green Cove Springs, FL, Greg Revels, of Gainesville, FL, and Clay Wimberley, and wife Nikki, of Mayo; 3 daughters, Rhonda Walker, and husband Tim, Chris Wimberley Leake, and husband Tim, and Sherri Chancy, and husband Jim, all of Mayo; 2 brothers, L.D. Revels, and Kenny Revels; 2 sisters, Annie Lou Kirkland, and Eula Nell Cox; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Branche and Rev. Danny Rogers officiating. Interment will follow immediately in New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Burns Funeral Home of Mayo. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
