Betty Sue Grady Heard, 82, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Southwest Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Phillips and Rev. Robert Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandsons serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Betty Sue Grady was born February 28, 1935, in Quincy, Fla., the daughter of Henry Wood Grady and EvaSue Elizabeth Harbin Grady. She was a graduate of Gadsden County High School and earned a degree in Music from Stetson University. Betty Sue served her community and eventually retired from the Department of Family and Children Services. She was a member of Southwest Baptist Church.

Betty Sue was known for many things, including being the mother of “those Heard boys”. Family was a high priority for her and every single member of her family can recall special memories from a trip (especially trips to the beach), something she cooked or a cake she baked. This woman of many talents could also sew and play the piano; she loved music. Betty Sue enjoyed art and gardening. She always found a way to see God’s handiwork in every little detail.

Survivors include her sons, Rodney Heard and his wife, Lynn, Dale Heard and his wife, Jill, Trent Heard and his fiancé, Julie, and Russell Heard and his fiancé, Carol Lee, all of Bainbridge; her daughter-in-law, Delores Heard; her siblings, Wiley Grady and his wife, Margaret, of Thomasville and Anna Risha Plunkett of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandchildren, Shannon & Justin, Jace & Brittney, Melissa & Brad, Morgan & BJ, Reid, Tucker, Grayson, Aaron & RomaDae, Cody & Tori, Ben and Ivy Lee; her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Trey, Hayleigh, Hayden, Julia, Wyatt, Easton, Sawyer and Maelee; her special friend, Ross Peterson; and her beloved dog, Buddy. In addition to her parents, Betty Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Julius C. Heard; her children, Carey Heard and Susan Deanne Heard; and her brother, Walden Grady.
