Mr. Sowl had not been in good health for the last two years. Two weeks ago he was admitted to the hospital at Madison to receive treatment for heart trouble. For a number of years he was employed as a motorman on the former interurban line, and later he was a motorman on the Beloit street railway system. In recent years he was a painting contractor also.
Mr. Sowl became a police officer March 28, 1928, and resigned July 22, 1929. Since 1929 and until he became a merchant policeman, he frequently served as a relief policeman. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church and the Masonic Lodge.
