Clyde O. McKinney, Jr., 57, of 1429 Gadsden Road, Cave Spring, died Thursday, July 14, 2005. A native of Dawson County, Mr. McKinney was born there on Oct. 13, 1947, son of the late Clyde Olen and Lilly Mae Norris McKinney. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. Mr. McKinney was retired from Lockheed-Martin in Marietta and he owned and operated the Cave Spring Fina Station for several years. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church and was a honorary member of the Cave Spring Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Cannonball" McKinney. Surviving are: his wife, the former Carolyn Morgan; two sons, David O. McKinney and Shane McKinney, both of Cave Spring; one grandson; one grand-daughter and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 17, at 3 p.m. in the Rehoboth Baptist Church with the Rev. W.L. Bridges and Rev. Ben Clemmons officiating. Interment followed in the Rehoboth Community Cemetery, with the Shankin-Attaway Post #5 of the American Legion providing military honors. An honorary escort included members of the Cave Spring Fire Department and Mr. Wallace Kemp. Active pallbearers were: Randy Morgan, Wayne Morgan, Bobby Morgan, Randy Lacey, Joe Jones and Dan Jones.
