NAUGATUCK – Daniel J. Coleman, 86, passed away on Sept. 26, 2017, with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of the late Marjorie (Scott) Coleman.
Daniel was born in Cambridge, Mass., Nov. 26, 1930, son of William J. and Mary (Mae) (Cooney) (Coleman) West.
Daniel attended schools in Cambridge, Mass. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and was a veteran of the Korean War. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he worked as a toolmaker until his retirement.
In his retirement, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as playing cribbage, puzzles and reading.
He leaves behind his five children; Dan and his wife, Charlotte; Linda and her husband, Joe; Sherri and her husband, Brian; Susan and Danielle. He also leaves 14 grandchildren that he was so proud of, Kathryn, Shayna, Ryan, Fallyn, Jennifer, Joe, Charles, Nicole, Aimee, D.J., Katelyn, Shawn, Elijah and Josh. Also, his eight great-grandchildren, who were the sparkles in his hazel eyes, Avery, Kaylin, Lily, Wyatt, Declyn, Dakota, Camdon and Aiden. Daniel is also survived by his sister, Allison Paiva and her husband, Frank; his brother, Ed and his wife, Donna; his sisters-in-law, Peggy Coleman and Rita Bolduc; his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joe, Bill, Jackie, James, Jack West and his sister, Dolly Cabral.

A celebration of his life and of his wife, Marjorie’s life, will be Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. at the State Veteran’s Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, with burial to follow.
To honor their memories, donations may be made to the following charities. American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
