HAZELTON, Feb. 26 - George (Sam) Batty, 72, was found dead at his farm home near Hazelton Sunday morning. He died sometime Saturday from natural causes.
He was born Oct. 23, 1889, at Toquerville, Utah. He married Marye Rico on Dec. 2, 1916, in Twin Falls. She died in 1955. A son died on the infamous Japanese death march on Bataan during World War IIU. Mr. Batty was a farmer in the Hazelton area.
Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Elvira B. Budweeks, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Neora B. Murie, Cedar City, Utah; Mrs. Alta B. Smith, Berkeley, Calif., and Mrs. Tessie B. Madison, El Cerrito, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at White mortuary, Twin Falls, with Bishop Jimmy Christopherson officiating. Concluding rites will be held at Sunset Memorial Park.
