Master Leon Richardson age 12, one of the four fire victims of the Saturday evening June 8, 2013 fire on Hull Avenue in Carthage, was pronounced dead at 2:42 a.m. Sunday morning June 9th at the Riverview Regional Medical Center.

The fire was reported to Smith County E-911 at 11:38 p.m. Saturday evening. Also dying in the late night fire was a cousin, Jordan Watkins and her father Tim Watkins and a great-great-uncle, Leonard Paradis.

Friday morning June 14th funeral services were conducted by Bro. Tom Gibson at 11 a.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Smith County Memorial Gardens.

He was born Leandreas Valentino Richardson on September 22, 2000 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles Raymond Keegan on August 24, 1979 at the age of 21 and by his maternal great-grandmother Julie Ann Nathey Paradis who died at the age of 72 on May 20, 2013.

Leon was being cared for under the guardianship of his great aunt and great uncle Jan and John Lee of Carthage.

Leon would have been in the seventh grade this fall at the Smith County Middle School.

He attended with his family the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in the Beasleys Bend Community at Riddleton.

Surviving in addition to his great aunt and great uncle is a sister, Makaila Richardson of Carthage, maternal grandmother, Elsie Hurst of South Carolina; paternal great-grandfather, Cam Paradis of Carthage.
