Stanley P. Collins, 49, passed peacefully in his home on Oct. 3, 2017 in Ridgecrest, Calif.

Stan was born July 8, 1968 in Tehachapi, Calif., to Glen and Rose Collins. He was a lifelong Kern County resident and a graduate of Tehachapi High School, class of 1987. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1990, during which time he married the love of his life, Tracey Thatcher.

After leaving the service, he moved to Ridgecrest to help run the family business, Collins Chevron. He eventually moved on to the research and development field, taking jobs with KETT Engineering, Matrix Motors and Quoin International, before going to work for the Department of Defense at China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station, where he spent the remainder of his career. He spent much of his spare time involved in the local youth wrestling program and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Tracey Collins; his son, Elliott; his daughter-in-law, Brynna; his two grandchildren, Raef and Normandy; his father, Glen; his brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Mary Collins; his sister, Rebecca Johnson; his stepfather, Tom Freng; and many aunts, uncles and family that loved him.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda; his mother, Rose; his grandparents, Jack and Rose Ford and Clint and Marie Collins; and brother-in-law, Kevin Johnson.

A celebration of life will take place at the VFW building in Ridgecrest on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 at 11 a.m.
