Life Legacy

Douglas Gunn McShane, 87, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2017.

Doug was born October 27, 1929 to Orrice McShane and Sarah Mabel Gunn. He was the youngest of 3 children, one brother Orrice and a sister, Norma.

Doug grew up at the Telluride in Beaver Canyon. Doug graduated from Beaver High School in 1948, then attended the branch college of Cedar City. He left Beaver to serve for his country in Korea with the National Guard. He was honorably discharged. He came back to attain his Bachelors degree at the University of Utah. Doug played football, baseball, basketball, and track in school, and helped lead his Beaver High team to a state championship.

Doug married Gloria Jex in 1955. They had two sons, Steven Douglas and James William. They divorced in 1973. In 1979, Doug, married the love of his life Faye Louise Patterson, and became a father to her 3 children, Sandi, Scott, and Carrie.

He worked for the Telluride Power company, for the Standard Oil Company in Bryce Canyon, and retired from US Steel after more than 30 years. .

A total of 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren made for a blessed life. Sadly, Faye passed away in 2015. Doug had a love of golf, deer hunting, Beaver high school sports, enjoyed helping others with various repairs, time at the chevron station, four wheeling, playing cards, horse races, and spent his last days enjoying driving into the mountain with Faye looking for deer. He was preceded by many loved ones, and leaves behind many others. Doug was loved by his peers, and his family, and will be missed but not forgotten.

Funeral Services will be held at Southern Utah Mortuary at 1pm on Saturday October 14th 2017. Viewing will be held from 11- 12:30pm prior to the service. Reception to follow. Please join us to celebrate Doug McShane.

Interment will be in the Mt. View Cemetery.
