A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in Redeemer Lutheran Church for Jake Rutz Sr., who died Jan. 24 at age 89.
Mr. Rutz was born Dec. 24, 1911, in Sterling, Colo.
He was raised in Colorado and South Dakota. He moved to Portland in 1940, where he worked in the shipyards during World War II. He was a farmer in the Boring and Orient areas for several years and later a mechanic for Portland Stages, retiring in 1974. He moved to Gresham in 1979. He was a member of the church. He married Ann Mary in 1937.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Ron, Jake Jr. and Jerry; daughters, Evelyn Orazio, Gloria Baker, Pat Hopkins and Sue Malar; sister, Molly Belcher; brother, Ed; 22 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.
Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham. The family suggests remembrances to the St. Jude Care Center. Arrangements are by Bateman-Carroll Funeral Chapel.
