Ray Herman Lambert
December 15, 1944 - September 23, 2017

Ray was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, son & brother. He was also a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Army. Ray married his soul mate Gayle in August of 1965. They had just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. He was a kind hearted man that loved to tell corny jokes to anyone who'd listen. You could always count on him for a good laugh. We all knew the famous pull my finger trick, it never got too old for him.
One of his biggest passions was music. It was more than a career, it was a calling. He was a small business owner that got to live out his passion, you could always find him fixing a guitar or AMP. Also he like to install wheels on everything, he figured it was a lot easier to roll it around.
He had many talents, at 15 he taught himself how to play the guitar and he did it very well. He would just make the guitar speak to you through his music. He couldn't pass up a jam session or gig with the band. He spent many nights playing with his fellow musicians with his guitar. This truly made him happy.
Ray loved a bargain; there wasn't a pawn shop or garage sale that he'd pass up. He wasn't afraid to horse trade & his favorite was the free stuff that was on the curb for trash day. It could be a lamp, shelf, chair or anything, it was free and he could find a use for it somewhere or just hoard it. It was golden if he found something musical related that he could fix up.
Let's not forget food, we all know he loved a good meal. Steak was always on top of the list, but one of his favorite was Peggy's gumbo. He'd be waiting in the kitchen, bowl in hand ready to eat. If he wasn't at home eating he'd be with a friend. One of his favorite places to eat was Captain Benny's with his son Scotty. Mexican food was always a go to favorite. After any meal we all knew it was nap time.
The Casino and gambling was a fun hobby he enjoyed. You could always find him in front of a penny slot. When on a cruise with mom she always knew she could find him in the casino playing his slots. He was a special person to all of us. He loved each one of his friends and family deeply.
