Walter Ray, 82, of Windsor, Missouri, died early Tuesday morning, October 10, 2017, at Westwood Living Center, Clinton, Mo.
He was born December 1, 1934 in Pettis County, Missouri north of Green Ridge, the son of Kenneth Otis Ray and Margaret Mae (Carpenter) Ray. On June 27, 1954, in Knob Noster, Missouri, he married Violet Irene Nichols and she survives of the home.
As a young man, Walter ran a milk truck route with his father. Later he was a truck driver for Howard Construction/Howard Quarries for a number of years. After retirement, he continued to drive occasionally for Chick Acker in Windsor. He was a member of the former Hickory Point Baptist Church near Green Ridge. He enjoyed Nascar races and football on TV and country western music shows.
In addition to his wife Irene, survivors include 2 sons, Larry Ray (Brenda), Leeton, Mo., and Ron Ray (Janet), Windsor, Mo.; a daughter, Carla Campbell (Bret), Windsor, Mo.; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Louise Ray; and a great-granddaughter Annie Lynn Davis.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, October 15, 2017, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggests contributions to the Hickory Point Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
