Maxine Mae Berry
Maxine Mae Berry, 89, a resident of Boise, passed away peacefully in her sleep October 7, 2017 in Boise.
Maxine was born November 1, 1927, in Boise, Idaho, to Audra and Roxey Clements Burns. She was raised and educated in Meridian, graduating from Meridian High School in 1946.
After graduation, Maxine met Rex S. McNees and they were married June 2, 1946, in Boise, Idaho. They had 5 children. They were later divorced and she married Allen Gordon Berry in 1972.
Maxine was very active throughout her life and made many great memories with her family: family holidays, camping, boating and fishing. She taught all of her children the love of gardening and especially the love of Christmas! Christmas was the highlight of her year.
Maxine spent the last 4 and a half happy years as a resident of Willow Park Assisted Living where she was adored and loved by all. She especially enjoyed visits from family and friends, and she loved puzzles, cards, crafts, field trips and Friday Happy Hours at Willow Park.
She spent most of her life as a stay at home mom, but was a bookkeeper for Rex at Idaho Air Service in Boise. While there, she learned to fly, and received her Clipped Shirt Tail Certificate on November 7, 1968. She never flew again.
Maxine is survived by 4 children, Kitty McNees Randolph Slagle; Margaret Elizabeth McNees Rost Bissell; Kelene Kay McNees Hepworth; and Shelly Laura McNees Conlon; 1 sister, Ann Burns Parsons; 7 grandchildren, Katye Slagle Franco; John Franklin Slagle; Meghan McNees Howard; Mitchell Young McNees; Eric Rost; Grace Marie Sisney Mueller; and Hanna Elizabeth Conlon. Maxine is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, John Stewart McNees; and 2 grandchildren, Rex Clayton Randolph Slagle; Stephanie Dawn Rost; and 3 sisters, Mary Lindley; and Josie DeChambeau and Ida Summers Walker.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her nephew Chuck and his wife Kay Hervey and niece Sharon Hervey Dewitt, who took such good care of her with love and humor.
A very special thank you is also extended to the staff at Willow Park Assisted Living for their loving care during her last years.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Meridian United Methodist Church, 240 E. Idaho Ave. in Meridian. Burial will follow at Joplin Cemetery in Boise with a reception following at the church after.
