Glenn Richard “Dick” Freeman, 74, Burlington, died at his home on Monday, October 9, 2017.

Dick was born on December 31, 1942, on the family farm at Vernon, Kansas, to Eli Benjamin and Estella Mae Curtis Freeman.

On March 23, 1961, he married Sue Knapp, in Winfield, Kansas. They have been married for 56 and a half years.

Dick graduated from Yates Center High School in 1961. He had worked as a Driver’s License Examiner for the State of Kansas for 35 years until his retirement.

Dick also worked as a carpenter and auctioneer. He was a past president for the Burlington Jaycees, served on the Burlington School Board, and was the treasurer of the Hampden Township Board. He was avid outdoorsmen and loved to hunt for Indian artifacts. He had trained bird dogs and raised quail.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Debra Sue Freeman, a brother, Earl Freeman, and a sister, Beatrice Shaffer and her husband Pete.

Dick is survived by his wife Sue, of the home, four sons, Johnny (Dawn) Freeman, Gridley, Darren (Anita Ramsay) Freeman, Liberty Hill, Texas, Richard D. Freeman, Burlington, and Stephen (Tiffany) Freeman, Round Rock, TX, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Helen Freeman, Burlington, other relatives and friends.

Dick was cremated. Memorial Services will be at the Jones Funeral Home, Burlington, on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Inurnment will be in the Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Coffey County Cancer Support Group or Coffey County Transportation c/o Jones Funeral Home, Burlington, KS.
