Paul F. Doherty. Died peacefully on Oct. 6, 2017.

Paul was the loving husband of Mae E. Doherty of Bridgewater for 53 years, and devoted father of Amy D. Mohr of Munich, Germany, Paul F. Doherty of Bellvue, Colorado, and Beth A. Evers of Sharon, Massachusetts.
He was the proud "Granddad" 3.

Paul was the loving son of the late John and Mary (McGurn) Doherty, and grew up in Woburn. He was the brother of Margie Donovan of Woburn, the late John B. Doherty of Woburn, Mary Hayes of Billerica, and Kathy Stallman of Idaho.

He was a graduate of the Woburn High School Class of 1959, Bridgewater State College Class of 1963, and received a Masters in Education from Boston University in 1968.

Paul married his beloved college sweetheart, Mae Ashenfelter, on Aug. 15, 1964, and after living in the Marshall Islands with the Peace Corps, they lived in Bridgewater where they raised their children. Paul was a teacher and vice-principal for several years before embarking on his career of 27 years as a principal at Rogers Elementary School in Fairhaven.

He especially loved spending time with his family, and also reading, playing tennis, traveling, camping, gardening, biking, and being active in the BSU Alumni Association. He was a member of the original Bridgewater Bears football team of Bridgewater State College. He regularly attended Mass at St. Basil's Chapel of Bridgewater State University.
