Dale L. Boyd, 81, passed into the arms of his Lord Jesus, Tues., Oct. 10, 2017 after a five-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born Aug. 21, 1936, in Eureka, Ill., to Fern Q. and Laura (Hendricks) Boyd.

He married Karen Meador on Oct. 11, 1959 in Patoka, Ill. Surviving are his beloved wife, Karen of Morton; two daughters, Kari (David) Rapp of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Laura Boyd-Huber of Morton; four grandchildren, Amanda (Joseph) Sanders, Liz (Michael) Sanchez, Travis (Selina) Huber, Taylor Huber, and one great- grandson Jonah Boyd Sanders. He is also survived by one brother Ronald (Loretta) Boyd of Morton, two nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew.

Dale was a proud Army veteran who served in occupied Germany.

He was a barber in Tremont, Minier, and Morton for over 50 years. Dale was a proprietor of Books by Boyd in Morton for 15 years and was a realtor in Scottsdale, Ariz. for nine years.

He passionately served the Lord over the years. He served as an elder at Minier Christian Church, a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Grace Church in Morton, the marriage prep facilitator at Scottsdale Bible Church in Ariz., and an elder and marriage prep facilitator and benevolence committee member at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria.
He was a loving brother, husband, daddy, popo, uncle and friend. He loved spending time with them sharing stories and always listening with a kind heart. He took great pride in his family, especially the pursuits of his grandchildren.
He and Karen were avid hikers, cyclists, and downhill skiers.

A Celebration of life will be held at Grace Church in Morton, 1325 E. Jefferson St., Morton, IL 61550, on Oct. 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.
