The Rev. James R. Dunn, 89, of St. Albans passed into the presence of his Lord September 12, 2009, at 11:10 p.m. after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Youle Dunn; and his middle son, David Mark Dunn. He served in the Navy Submarine Service during WWII. Before entering the ministry in 1949, he was employed by the U.S. government as a veterans contact representative and at the Naval Ordnance Plant in South Charleston. He was an ordained minister and president of World Missions for Christ, ministering for more than 60 years as a pastor, evangelist and missionary in Africa, Latin America and Europe. Under his leadership, World Missions for Christ sponsored evangelism and humanitarian endeavors in many developing countries. Surviving: sons and their wives, the Rev. James Richard II and Sherry Dunn, Missionaries with the Assemblies of God, and the Rev. Philip and Suzette Dunn, Pastors of Valley Christian Assembly, Charleston; brother, Paul and wife, Lucille Dunn, of St. Albans; grandchildren, Richard III, Patty, David, Sarah and Tommy; six great-grandchildren.
