Born in DeSiard Bayou, Ouachita Parish Louisiana, on April 18, 1834 and died on October 5, 1857 in Caldwell County, Texas. She was the daughter of LTC. Robert Dawson Wright and Eleanor Dickerson.
He then married Sarah Catherine Boykin on February 10, 1859 in Gonzales County, Texas. Their children were Winnie Eliza West (1860,) Edward Sian West (1862,) William Henry West, Jr. (1864) and Eugene Chester West (1866.)

W.H. West, 84, a Confederate veteran and resident of Texas since 1848, died this morning at the home of his son, E.S. West, 920 Lamar Street. He was born in Louisiana and saw distinguished service in the Civil War. He was well-known in San Antonio and had formed a wide circle of friends here. Survived by three sons - E.C.., E.S., and R.L. West; his daughter - Mrs. John Clary; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Services were held at the residence of his son tomorrow by Rev. Barber, pastor of St. John's Episcopal Church. The body will be sent to Harwood, Texas tomorrow night for burial
