Samuel Richard Birdsong was born in Fulton County, Nov 12, 1877. He departed this life Sept. 22, 1962 in Crawfordsville, Ind. He was married to Matilda J. Shelton, Jan 22, 1905 and to this union was born 11 children. Three sons preceded him in death. He was a member of the Methodist Church.Survivors include is wife, three sons, Thedous R., Crawfordsville, Ind., Natchel, Red Bluff, Calif., and John Sedalia, Mo.; five daughters, Mrs Charles Agee, Crawfordville, Ind., Mrs Pleas Powell, Pineville, Mrs William Tutt of Crawfordville, Ind., Mrs Allen Wood, Pineville and Mrs Woodrow Dillard, Compton, Calif. Twenty-one grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters also survive.Services were held Tuesday Sept. 25 in the Hebron Church at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Remmel Rowden and Rev. Price Lovelace officiating. Interment was made in the Hebron Cemetery under the direction of the McCallum Funeral Home, Calico Rock.
