Linda Faye Wooderson Willey was born on August 3, 1942 to Roy and Genevie (White) Wooderson in Caldwell. She had her ultimate “Homecoming” on October 8, 2017 as she passed away at the Oxford Grand in Wichita.
She grew up on a farm in Grant County, Oklahoma and attended country school through eighth grade. Her freshman year she came to Caldwell for her high school years and graduated with the class of 1960. Little did Linda know she had already met her future husband, Karl Willey, on trips into town with her parents. They dated all through high school and after Linda attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma for one year they were married in Caldwell at the United Methodist Church on July 9, 1961. They were blessed to spend almost 52 years of marriage together.
Linda and Karl made their home in Wichita. She worked outside the home until their first daughter, Kimberly, was born. Their second daughter, Sherri, completed the family. The young family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and later to Oxford, Alabama. In 1974 the family was fortunate to have the opportunity to return to Caldwell and purchased Detrick’s Grocery Store. Linda worked alongside Karl to make the business a success. She enjoyed working in the store and community and was still able to take care of the home and be involved in all of her daughter’s activities.
Linda was a member of the Central Christian Church, PEO, Starlight and the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce. She took pride in helping develop Heritage Park when the Chamber of Commerce took that on as a project. It was her hobby for any years, as well as yard work at home.
Linda and Karl enjoyed traveling in later years and spending time at Grand Lake, Grove, Okla. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, many special memories were made.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Genevie; her husband Karl and brother-in-law, Dave Lowe.
Survivors include her daughters Kimberly and husband Jerry Nimitz of Medford, Oklahoma; Sherri and Husband Rick King of Wichita; grandchildren, Richard S. Crumbliss and wife Jill; Natalie King, Kami Nimitz, Will King and Max King; great-grandchildren, Piper Crumbliss, Richard A. Crumbliss, Marrin Crumbliss; sister Diana Lowe; brothers-in-law Paul (Diane) Willey and Daryl Willey of Dallas, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will bae held 11 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Central Christian Church in Caldwell. Dr. Dan Price will officiate.
Interment will be in the Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell.
Memorials may be given in memory of Linda to the Central Christian Church or to the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce for Heritage Park and may be mailed or left in care of the mortuary.
