Lena "Irene" Nelson, age 79, a resident of Dry Fork, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Cortland Acres in Thomas, WV.

She was born December 7, 1937 in Jenningston, WV a daughter of the late Ivan and Eva Pearl Waybright Eye.

She has one daughter who survives, Angela Sue Nelson Kisner and husband Richard E. Kisner, Jr. of Montrose, WV.

Also surviving is one grandson, Jeremy Richard Kisner and wife, Courtney of Morgantown, WV, two brothers, Ivan June Eye and wife Maggie of St. George, WV and Hoy Michael Eye and wife Pam of Hendricks, WV; three sisters, Nela Norean Hendrick of Red Creek, WV, Eva Frances Riffle and husband Charles of North Madison, OH, and Martha Belle Smith and husband Thomas of Keyser, WV, brother-in-law Allen Flanagan of Dry Fork, WV.

Former husband, Billy Jo Nelson of Dry Fork, WV and extended family, Roy Nelson of Dry Fork, WV, Burley Jake Nelson and wife Bonnie of Dry Fork, WV, Donald "Dude" Nelson of Cortland Acres in Thomas, WV, James "Jim" Nelson and wife Linda of Dry Fork, WV, Elvin Kisamore and Nancy of Dry Fork, WV, Doris Evans and Juan Cohen of Taylorsville, NC, JoAnne and Clyde Huffman of Elkins, WV, Mary and Ron Smith of Taylorsville, NC, Barb Nelson of Buckhannon, WV and Stearlind Kimble of Charles Town, WV.

Special nieces and nephew that survive: Joe Nelson and son, Kaden of Dry Fork, WV, Elva Snyder and sons, Daniel and Peyton of Dry Fork, WV, Kendra Shelton and daughters, Audrina, Evalynn "Evie" and Stella, Leslie and Shane Mook of Dry Fork, WV and several other nieces and nephews she loved.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers, John Evert Eye, Bob Eye, Dick Eye, and Okey Eye and wife Nancy, three sisters, Juanita and Porte Cosner, Mary Ann Flanagan, and Emma Lou Eye, brother-in-law Robert Kent Hendrick and extended family members, Roscoe Nelson, and Betty Kimble.

Irene was manager of the Oriskany in Canaan Valley for many years.

She was a member of the Red Creek Bethel Church of the Brethren in Dry Fork, WV.

She loved spending time with family and friends and especially all of her friends at Cortland Acres.

She enjoyed quilting, cooking, crocheting, "BINGO", coloring club and jewelry making.

Irene’s wishes for cremation will be honored.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Red Creek Bethel Church of the Brethren with Pastor John Moyers officiating.
