Darlene Mae (Merchant) Robinson was born October 18, 1930, to Edward L. and Mae E. Merchant in Hartley, IA.
She moved to Fifty Lakes, MN, with her parents where they lived for a short time and she met the love of her life, Donald C. Robinson. Her family moved to Brookings, SD, where she attended high school until she returned to Fifty Lakes and graduated from Pine River High School. She married her husband of 45 years in 1949.
In 1958, Don and Darlene moved their family to the Gallatin Valley and settled in Manhattan. Darlene was very active in the workforce having a variety of jobs which ranged from working in the potato fields, candling eggs, finish trimmer in a mobile home factory, and her final position working in home health care after caring for her husband in his battle with cancer. She retired at the age of 80, but missed working with people so she spent much of her time volunteering at the local assisted living facility. She was happiest spending time with her family, which included many trips to Lake Havasu City, AZ, Yellowstone Park and Hawaii. Her yard and flower garden was a great source of pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents, Ed and Mae Merchant; brother, Dennis Merchant; and sister, Nancy Schulz.
A private interment of ashes for Darlene and Donald C. will be held at Meadow View Cemetery.
