Our incredible husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother passed away peacefully at home on Sunday July 30, 2017, surrounded by family. He was born October 31, 1935, in Park City to William and Leona Berry. Ed was the youngest of their four children.
Ed graduated from Park City High School where he was an accomplished trumpet player in the Park City Miners Band, which earned him a music scholarship at BYU. He was also the trumpet player in the Jack Turner Orchestra. In 1958, he joined the United States Marine Corps, stationed in San Francisco, California. He served as a member of the Marine Corps Band and was awarded the Expert Rifleman certificate. During his service, he met the love of his life, Sharon Forde from British Columbia, Canada and they were married on October 15, 1960. Following his honorable discharge, he and Sharon moved to Park City and later to Salt Lake City, where they raised their family.
Ed retired from the Utah State Tax Commission, Motor Vehicle Division as the Assistant Director after 30+ years. After retirement, Ed and Sharon were blessed to enjoy more than 20 years as snowbirds in Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Ed is survived by his wife, Sharon; children: Lee-Ann, Gail, Lara and Ed Kent (Pam); sisters: Billie Larremore, Mae Berry and Carol Santy; grandchildren: Amanda, Ally (Chelsea), Gavin, Kami, Holly, Alexis and Courtney; great-grandchildren: Amethyst, Karrisa and Alexis; and sister-in-law: Gail Carter.
Although he went to BYU, his final resting place is at the U, so we are happy he finally got it right.
He touched so many lives and those that knew him were better off because of all he did for everyone. Per his request and belief that you should love unconditionally and be good to everyone while they were here, no services will be held. In his honor, make a donation to a charity of your choice and/or help someone in need. The family is so grateful for the special care Dee and Alyssa of Harmony Hospice provided
