Death Record.
Leahy – Captain W. J. Leahy died at Dilltown, Tuesday evening after a long illness with a complication of diseases, aged 75 years. Captain Leahy formerly resided in this city and served one term as sheriff of Clinton county. During his term as sheriff, Luther Shaffer, slayer of Isiah and Noah Colby was hanged. He resided at Falls Creek for many years and was postmaster there. He was also agent of the A.C. Hoplins estate at Falls Creek and DuBois. He left no survivors, his wife having died two years ago.
The remains were brought to this city yesterday and funeral services were conducted in the Church of the Immaculate Conception this morning. Interment beside his wife in St. Marys cemetery.

Elected Sheriff of Clinton County, PA in 1887.

Military applications for Veterans: William J Leahy, St Mary’s Cemetery, Lock Haven, PA, Civil War, 2nd Lt Co C, 2nd Reg. U.S. Volunteer Sharp Shooters, served Aug 6, 1861 to Jan 8, 1863."
