Harlem, Ga. - US Army SFC Jerry L. Sims, Sr. (RET), 76, husband of Henri Hunt Sims, entered into rest on Thursday, October 05, 2017, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 9, 2017, at Harlem United Methodist Church with the Reverend John Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Harlem Memorial Cemetery with full military honors accorded.
Mr. Sims was born in Jemison, Alabama to the late William and Lila E. Sims. He was retired from the United States Army having served in Vietnam. He received numerous military medals and awards for his service. Mr. Sims was also retired from Johnson Controls and a member of Harlem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Henri Hunt Sims; his children,, Jerry Sims Jr. (Lynne), Chuck Meadows, Rusty Meadows (Krista), Diane Lewis (Bo) and DeeDee Masters (Lynn); Grandchildren, Travis Seigler (Shannon), Jennifer Moore (Dennis), Jesse Sims, Tucker Meadows, Gabriel Meadows, Gideon Meadows, Buddy Lewis, Joshua Lewis (Kayla) and Christian Power, Caitlynn Power, Bailey Jones, Charlee Grace Masters, Landen Masters, Eric Milford (Katie Beth), Hannah Milford, Daniel Rhodes, and Joey Sims (Nikki); and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Sims and a daughter, Theresa Milford (Hugh), three brothers, Benny Sims, Billy Don Sims (Dot) and Robert Sims.

Pallbearers will be members of the United States Army Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
