115 Squadron's Vickers Wellington Mk III (#BJ898) KO-C aircraft, with an aircrew of five, took off from Wretham on an air operation over Mannheim, Germany. The Wellington failed to return to base, having been shot down by a German fighter; the aircraft crashed, taking the lives of the entire crew.

Flight Sergeant David Garth 'Bud' Williams is commemorated on Page 124 of Canada's Second World War Book of Remembrance.
He is also remembered with love and honour on a family grave monument in the Banff Town Cemetery in Banff, British Columbia.
