Norman Henry Simpson, Son of Robert Bain Simpson and Matilda Clara Simpson, of St. Arnaud, Victoria, Australia. Norman was served with the RAAF in WWII and lost his life when his plane, Lancaster W4817 460 Squadron crashed at Viersen-Ummer Germany....

Lancaster W4817 took off from RAF Breighton at 1714 hours on the night of 27 January 1943 to bomb Dusseldorf, Germany. The bomb load 1 x 4000 lb (pound) (1,800 kg), 1080 x 4 lb (2 kg) incendiaries. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base. Post war it was established that the aircraft crashed at Viersen-Ummer Germany and all members of the crew were killed.
