Orville Wesley Olson of Littlefork, Minnesota, made his way home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 15, 2015.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Littlefork Community Building with full military rites.

Orville was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota to Clifford Olson and Gladys (Tillotson) Gray on August 13, 1931. Orville was the youngest son with two older brothers, Earl Olson and Russell Olson, and two sisters, Mavis Hotchkiss and Elaine Larson. Orville and his siblings were raised by their mother and stepfather, John Gray, in Pine City, Minnesota.

Orville married Dorothy Horne on December 31, 1964 in Howard Lake, Minnesota and became the stepfather to Sharla (Perry) Eide. Orville and Dorothy dedicated their lives to loving and spending time with their daughter and her family. Dorothy passed away on August 30, 2000. Orville expanded his family and married Loraine Kennedy Nelson on September 17, 2010 and became the stepfather to her three children.

Orville devoted his life to his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, teaching gun safety, flying, attending all of his grandchildren’s school activities and sports, making wine, and dancing. Orville was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Littlefork, Minnesota. Orville was also an active member of the VFW, Moose, Elks, Eagles, and Legions clubs. Orville served our country in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 as a serviceman in the United States Army. Orville learned his trade from his stepfather and worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad, M, D, & W Railroad, and Boise Cascade. Throughout his life Orville traveled extensively including Hawaii and Alaska. Orville and Loraine spent their winters together in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Orville is preceded in death by his parents Clifford Olson and John and Gladys (Tillotson) Gray; wife Dorothy Horne Olson; and siblings Earl Olson, Russell Olson, and Elaine (Harlen) Larson.

Orville is survived by his wife Loraine Nelson of Littlefork; sister Mavis (Robert) Hotchkiss of Sacramento, CA; daughter Sharla (Perry) Eide of International Falls; grandchildren Cindy (Joe Rasmussen) Eide of Chaska, Marty (Dawn) Eide of International Falls, and Cory (Essa) Eide of International Falls; great-grandchildren Jordon and Joshua Rasmussen, Zackary and Jakob Eide, Andrew and Aubrey Eide; stepchildren Rhonda (Dennis) Jonson of International Falls, Carrie (Keith) Hasbargen of Birchdale, Brian Nelson of International Falls; step-grandchildren Chad (Ellen) Jonson, Shanda (Quentin) Smith, Krista Jonson, Darron Hasbargen, Brent (Sandi) Hasbargen, Amy Hasbargen, Lindsey (Willie) Frank, Aaron Nelson, Hannah Nelson; and step-great-grandchildren Tyler and Ashley Jonson, Brina and Gavin Smith, and Jadon and Jillian Frank.
