Raymond William Daniels, age 93, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Grand JiVante Care Center in Ackley while under hospice care from Care Initiatives. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 12 at 10:30 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Ackley, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 11, from 5 to 7 PM at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley. Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Ackley.

Raymond was born February 16, 1924 to William and Anna (Mudderman) Daniels of Hubbard, IA. He attended Ackley High School. Ray served in the Army during World War II from 1943-1946. On June 22, 1948, he was united in marriage to Nettia Harms at the Steamboat Rock Presbyterian Church and they resided in Ackley. The couple had one son, Harris.

Ray worked for years doing milk delivery. He retired from Farmers Co-op where he was a fuel deliveryman. Ray was a member of the American Legion, Lion’s Club, St. Johns UCC and the Iowa River Conservation & Improvement Club and served breakfast at the Steamboat Rock Boat Club. Ray and his wife Nett, of 69 years, enjoyed camping in 49 states and belonged to a square dance club where they met lots of friends. He enjoyed spending time with family and grandkids and fishing with his brothers.

Raymond is survived by his son, Harris (Charlene) Daniels of Ackley and granddaughters Kendra (Kevin) Christensen and Stacey Daniels (Kevin Halsey) of Iowa Falls, IA. There are 6 great grandchildren – Angelina Flanagan, Zakkary Christensen, Ravyn Christensen, Violette Christensen, Audrey Jackson and Dylan Halsey all of Iowa Falls.

Preceded in death by his wife Nettie, his parents, three brothers Herman, Evert and Harold and two sisters Tena Murra and Hattie Miller.
