Mrs. Cox was predeceased by her husband, J. Elton Cox as well as four brothers: Mauline Hickman, Wyatt Lee "Willie" Hickman, Sam Porter Hickman, and E.H. Hickman.
Born on April 26, 1934 to Lee Hickman and Janie Shelley Hickman, Mrs. Fannie was a native of Loris and spent her life actively working and worshiping in this small town.
Mrs. Fannie is survived by her son, David and his wife Karen, three grandchildren; Shelli (Lee) James, Steven D. Cox, and Neal (Andrea) Rogers as well as six great-grandchildren. In addition, she was blessed to have Ms. Lucille Waine, who lived with and cared for her during her battle with dementia and rheumatoid arthritis. Without Ms. Lucille's kind and compassionate care, this journey would have been much harder. God bless you, Ms. Lucille.
She leaves behind many friends and family members, including her brothers and sisters from the Order of the Eastern Star, Loris Chapter #106. She spent many years actively involved in the Eastern Star locally and made friends throughout the state as she attended various functions.
Mrs. Fannie will enter the Loris First Baptist Church for the last time on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. where she was a lifelong member. Visitation will be in the fellowship hall from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. with services following next door in the sanctuary. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Carter Cemetery.
